Will I Go Back to School?

I’ve always wanted to become an elementary teacher. However, after high school, I didn’t really want to go to college. I took a few classes, but wasn’t into it. I wanted to get married and have kids. Thankfully, that did not happen. I wasn’t as ready as I thought I was.

Then I decided I would be a nurse. I was dating my husband at the time and he was a firefighter/paramedic. I thought it would be cool to be in the medical field with him. So I went back to the community college and took some more classes. Man,  I did not like the science class or the math classes. So not my thing. So I stopped and went to work full time and starting raising his family and forgot about it again.

Fast forward ten years, when my son was 2 and I wanted to start taking some classes. I looked into financial aid and thought about quitting my job and take classes full time. I did take a “class in a box” which was basically watching DVDs and taking a few tests. That was easy.  Then my step son passed away and so did my drive for school.

So – eight years later, we are moving and starting anew in a new place and I do not have to go back to work right away!! Yeah!! So…. will I go back to school? There are some colleges on line. I feel too old to go back, I mean I am almost forty! lol But seriously…. maybe, we’ll see. I would want to study education or computers, not sure.

I work at a sort of a community college and have seen many people go to college after 40. It’s great, but my advise is to finish a degree as quick as you can don’t drag it out for years!

  22. I’m closer to 50, and already have a B.S. degree, so going back now just makes me… queasy. lol. But so many people go back to school in their 40s,50s, and older. I say go for it, if it’s what you want!
