This pillow is available in sizes Standard, Queen and King. They even have a kids size pillow. Price depends on pillow you choose. The queen is a really nice size and perfect for my bed. The pillow is super soft and cool to touch and I was super excited to try it out in place of my down pillow.

The fabric and foam of this pillow is made in the United States. It is also fully machine washable which is a big plus. Grow your own Avocado Tree at home with AvoSeedo!

Do you love Avocado? How about delicious homemade guacamole? I honestly cannot get enough of Avocado. I eat it on my sandwiches, love it on burgers and of course I love making fresh guacamole to enjoy. I was contacted by a company called AvoSeedo to review their product to grow my very own avocado tree!

About AvoSeedo:

AvoSeedo is a small plastic bowl that features an indentation with a hole in it. A single avocado seed can be inserted with the “flat” end facing down. Afterwards, AvoSeedo can be placed in a sufficiently large, water-filled pot. Due to its low weight and high displacement, AvoSeedo will remain at the surface all the time; as the water level lowers, AvoSeedo will sink accordingly.

With AvoSeedo, you can significantly raise the success rate when it comes to avocado germination. Without any risk, you can decrease the watering intervals drastically. Only from time to time you will have to check the water level of the pot containing AvoSeedo plus avocado seed. Compared to the original toothpick method, there’s another advantage: the avocado seed doesn’t need to be perforated, reducing the risk of damage (and thus, failed germination efforts).

And finally, AvoSeedo features a mounting that can be used to attach small flags. These can be inscribed with the date when germination started, with strain names or with additional information. Thus, you can easily keep track, even when germinating several avocado seeds at the same time.

The AvoSeedo website offers great information on Avocados and on how to grow your own Avocado tree. They offer many products to choose from. I was able to review the AvoSeedo in the transparent color. They offer transparent, green, blue and pink. Directions are simple, all you need is an avocado pit. The website offers great instructional videos too.

Here is how it works:

1. Get an avocado, cut it open and remove the pit
2. Peel away the thin skin from the avocado pit
3. Put the pit flat part down into the AvoSeedo tray
4. Place the AvoSeedo tray with avocado pit into a bowl of water
5. Change the water every two to three weeks
6.The seed will sprout and a tiny avocado tree will grow after one to three months
7. Transfer the budding tree into a pot
8. Reuse the AvoSeedo to grow more avocados

My pit has already started the process of roots and I am excited to continue to watch it become an avocado tree. My kids really enjoyed the whole process, it was a great educational experience for them. It will increase kids’ understanding of ecology, interconnections in nature, responsibility and care for the environment in a participatory and concrete way. Great for all ages!

The Correct Way to Measure for Blinds and Shades

As far as screening is concerned, the traditional curtain has served us well, yet the trend has shifted towards blinds in the past decade, mainly because of the many advantages this type of screening offers. Bespoke solutions are no longer the exclusive right of the wealthy, and today’s blinds are easy to fit, providing they are fabricated to the right dimensions, and with that in mind, here is a guide to measuring interior blinds.

Mount Type – A blind can be mounted on the inside or the outside of the window aperture, and while both are attractive, it is down to personal choice. The inside mount is attached to the top of the window reveal with brackets and screws, and therefore the blind is very close to the glass. If, for example, you wanted to get made to measure vertical blinds, prior to looking at designs, you would first need to decide on the mounting type. Inner mounts are more popular, as they block out all the light, and unless the window reveal is too narrow or there are obstacles, mounting the blinds in the reveal is a preferred option.

Multi-Point Width Measurement – Assuming you are going with an inside mounted blind, you must measure the width of the window reveal in 3 places, namely the bottom, middle and top. Write these 3 measurements on a piece of paper and circle the lowest, which is going to be the size you give the online supplier. Don’t worry that the blinds will scrape the sides of the window reveal, as the manufacturer will make some minor deductions to allow for this. There is a step by step guide online to measuring for an inside mount, which goes into great detail and lists the necessary tools.

Multi-Point Height Measurement – As with the width, measure the height in 3 places and take the smallest measurement. From the top of the window reveal to the top of the window sill will give you a precise measurement for the manufacturer, and they will make the necessary adjustments.

Outside Mounted Measurement – When measuring the width, it is generally the rule to allow two or three inches on either side, which gives a balanced look, and allow 3 or 4 inches at the top for the attachment. The brackets can either be fixed directly to the wall or on a trim that is mounted to keep the blind away from the wall, and for the height, you should measure from the very top of the overhead trim to 3 or 4 inches below the sill.

Made to measure units allow for a perfect fit, and with online suppliers, all you need to do is follow the above instructions and your new blinds will fit like a glove. The range of designs is virtually unlimited, so you can add some colour and depth by choosing something suitable, and with precise manufacturing, you won’t have to make any adjustments. The above measurement system is used by all blind manufacturers, and they will make the necessary adjustments to allow for a small clearance between blind and window reveal.
