Boggy Creek Airboat Rides

We went to Orlando, FL recently and decided to try out Boggy Creek Airboat Rides. I’ve read about them, heard about them and seen other bloggers having fun there, but in the 30+ years of living on Florida I’ve never been there.

There are so many wonderful things to do in Orlando other than the parks. This trip we stayed away from the parks and ventured outside our normal vacation.

It took about 30-45 minutes to get to Boggy Creek from our timeshare. It was long ride fro the children but along the way we saw a different part of Orlando. It was more country and not a lot of “entertainment”.

Enjoy one of four unique airboat adventures and idle along canals to find exotic birds, turtles and the Florida alligator wallowing in their natural environment. Then soar atop the swamp water at speeds reaching 45mph. You’ll feel like you’re flying through the wetlands as you enjoy the best Everglades experience in Central Florida.

We did the Scenic Nature Tour 1/2 Hour. No reservations are needed and the tour leave every 30 minutes, 365 days a year, from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM. We had to wait a bit for the next tour but there was lots to see in and around the store.

When it was our turn we all got headphones to block out the noise and my daughter received a life jacket.

Our first sighting was an alligator. We only saw two on our trip, but that was okay. We’ve seen them around Florida plenty of times.

The scenery was beautiful although it was a hot day.

We saw several cows in the marsh, lots of birds, dragon flies and a bald eagle.

Our tour guide was wonderful and funny. He’s lived in that area all his life and knew the marsh like the back of his hands. He suggested we come back for a night tour and we’ve decided that the next time we go to Orlando that’s what we’ll do.

After the tour we stuck around to see the baby alligators and the kids got to hold him. See our pic above.

Backyard Oceans Pool

Living in Florida many, many people have their own pool. We had one in our last house and while I do miss seeing it everyday I don’t miss taking care of it.

Where we live now, we have a resort style water park and really there is no need to get a pool, but sometimes it’s ice to just let the kids go outside and play without going anywhere. When Backyard Ocean Pool asked me to review one of their pools, of course I said yes! I choose the Deluxe Square Party Pool.

We got this little box and I thought there is no way a pool is inside this box!

But it was in there!! We took the pool outside and started to figure out how to blow it up. I was disappointed that there were no instructions included. I also looked online and could not find any helpful hints. We did get it up and started filling it with water.

Then it was time to invite some friends over!!

We kept this up for about two weeks and the kids had a blast. We took it down before vacation but I’m hoping to get it up again before October.

Pier 1 Made My Patio into an Outdoor Oasis #Pier1OutdoorParty #Sponsored #MC

A few weeks ago I was asked to participate in an Outdoor Oasis Party with Pier 1. I knew I needed to update my patio so I said yes. I never knew how pretty it would actually get with a little hard work and some fun shopping. After I had the patio the way I wanted it I threw a party for all to see!

I had about ten guests come over for a light lunch and a mini manicure. It was a beautiful hot Florida day, perfect for the pool. but hung out in the house and on the patio. There was a slight breeze which made it a nice day. I kept the decorations simple but went with the lime green that is the focal color on my patio. Lemonade and Cranberry Ginger Ale made for refreshing beverages along with light snack and yummy cookies.

My patio’s history.

Originally my patio had an old glass table and chairs on it. But I’ve wanting a wicker set for 2 years. Recently I was able to get a free wicker rocker that a neighbor was getting rid of. Then at our local community yard sale I scored an old wicker set with cushions for $25!

But it needed some work…

So I spend a weekend scraping and painting the wicker and turned a beautiful white! I also found an old wooden table outside fir the trash, took that home, sanded it and repainted it to match the pillows on the wicker.

So what did I get at Pier 1 for my Patio Oasis? I wanted to keep the bottom cushions that came with my wicker set but needed to change up the throw pillows. I picked out some pretty floral designs and some solid yellow pillows. Then I needed another table. So I picked out a beautiful side table. hen I wanted some hanging lights to add some color and sparkle to my patio.

My guests loved my new patio and I several were off to shop at Pier 1 to spruce up there outdoor living space! A Mother’s Day gift to add to my collection from Pier 1!!

But wait! I am hoping to get our patio extended and screened in. This will make me so happy as I love to sit outside and read and feel the warmth and listen to the birds sing. With an extension I will need to head back to Pier 1 for some more shopping! I think a rug would be a great asset and maybe another chair. I will keep you posted.
